Rooms at Almond House Nursery

The dedicated rooms here at Almond House were purpose built with helping your child develop, to the best of their abilities, at the forefront of our minds. The three age brackets, the Under Twos (0 – 2 years), the Tweenies (2 – 3 years) and the Pre-school (3 – 5 years) help stimulate your child and ensure they engage in social activity throughout their time at this Huddersfield nursery.

Under Two’s (0 – 2 years)

Our baby room at this Huddersfield based nursery provides a homely, stimulating environment for the youngest children we take care of. Our professionally qualified staff are passionate about childcare and will provide a high level of individualised care for your baby, ensuring they feel happy, safe and secure with us. With this very young age group the ratio of staff to babies is one member of staff to three.

Tweenies (2 – 3 years)

Our spacious ‘Tweenie’ room at Almond House is the next step for your little learners. Reading, singing, dancing, structured and free play are all focuses of this room. Toilet training and table manners are also key points on the agenda and are developed through praise and encouragement.

Our main aim is to ensure that children are happy, settled and form good relationships, giving them a solid base for their early year’s development going forward. This age group also has a high ratio of one practitioner for every four Tweenies. This offers children more interaction with a member of staff, enabling children to develop through structured and free play.

Pre-school (3 – 5 years)

Social skills, literacy and numeracy are the focus for the children in our pre-school unit at Almond House Nursery, Huddersfield.

At the heart of our preschool is an experienced early years teacher, April who leads the room, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education and care.

April and her dedicated team understand the importance of a holistic approach to education. In the realm of literacy, she expertly combines structured activities and play-based learning to foster early reading and writing skills. Children are exposed to rich and varied literature, both in group reading sessions and independent exploration of books. The team engage children in phonics activities, letter recognition games, and storytelling sessions, promoting language development and a love for reading.

As well as learning about numbers and language, pre-school children celebrate special festival and events throughout the year, embracing the magic and wonder of the world around them.

But education at our preschool goes beyond the classroom walls. Outdoor forest school experiences are an integral part of our curriculum. Surrounded by nature, children engage in hands-on exploration, building an appreciation for the natural environment while developing physical skills and fostering their creativity. They engage in activities such as nature walks, plant identification, bug hunting, and building shelters, allowing them to connect with the world around them in a meaningful way.

In summary, our excellent preschool provides a well-equipped and nurturing environment for children to thrive. With an experienced early years teacher at the helm, our curriculum seamlessly integrates learning through play, mathematics, literacy, and outdoor forest school experiences. We believe that by fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning, we are laying the foundation for each child’s lifelong academic success and personal growth.
